Abstract

|
The composition of thrombi encountered during acute occlusive stroke is heterogeneous. According to stroke subtypes, several thrombi developed via various mechanisms, which result in different responses to individual thrombolytic methods. In this context, assessment of stroke subtypes may help us to infer the composition of offending clot. Thrombolytic strategy considering clot composition and underlying vascular status may facilitate reperfusion and accomplish better outcome.
